There is one restaurant which has also been refurbished. It is large and pleasantly decorated and offers a wide selection from an International a la carte menu. The exterior is very modern with a large car park. The lobby is medium in size and decorated in a pleasant and modern style. The decor is light pastel shades and light woods. This is a very good standard hotel situated in a perfect location for easy access to the city centre. The hotel also has a small gymnasium for guests.

It is a different, and very attractive property for a visit to Edinburgh.

The restaurant has a very warm feel and is decorated in terracotta and green shades. The hotel was built from a number of adjoining houses with white stone facades. It is a stunning Georgian exterior, one of the most elegant in the whole city. The lobby is medium in size. Following the refurbishment in 2006, despite the brand new furniture and decor, it has managed to maintain a traditional feel in keeping with the historic building itself. The lobby leads in to the bar area, which is also warm and comfortable and an ideal place to relax. There are also elegantly landscaped gardens, separated by the original Georgian garden walls. This is a pleasant hotel in the heart of the city. The hotel has its own gymnasium on the patio level. (KB 07/08) The bedrooms are well equipped, and there are some suites availab le. All rooms are in good condition, although they are relatively basically furnished. All are small to medium in size. The eating area has recently been renovated and offers great views over Princes Street to the Old Town opposite. There is also a bar which is popular in the evenings. From the front entrance it is only possible to see a doorway, with stairs leading up to the reception. A lift has now been installed to reach the reception on the first floor. The hotel has a small lobby area which is modern in design. An Edinburgh institution, the Royal British still offers comfort in an unbeatable location.

The lobby is dominated by an impressive, sweeping staircase and is tastefully decorated with tartan fabrics. Opened in September 2001, the hotel now boasts one of the finest spa and health clubs in Europe. Simpsons restaurant is located on the ground floor to the right side of the lobby. There is also a pleasant residents bar, which is small, but warm and welcoming. The restaurant serves innovative, stylish and delicious dishes made from Scottish ingredients in pleasant, informal surroundings. The hotel was once the Royal Maternity Hospital. Although the hospital has ceased to operate since the 1950s the building still has an imposing grandeur in the traditional Scottish baronial style. The lobby is bright and lightly furnished and medium-sized. There is a pleasant seating area and a warm and welcoming feel to the hotel. Modern and tastefully decorated. The original maternity hospital was dedicated to Sir James Young Simpson, discoverer of Chloroform. This hostorical slant on the property and its extremely homely feel, make it a much sought after property in central Edinburgh. They are of a good standard, and all are equipped with tea/coffee-making facilities, mini-safe, hair dryer and trouser press as standard. All are equipped with facilities of a three-star standard, including pay-per-view movies and direct-dial telephone. Although rooms are double glazed, some can be affected by noise from the pub. Major sporting events are shown on a large screen in the cobbled courtyard of the hotel (weather permitting). The Three Sisters Pub serves food daily, and an upstairs room serves guests a traditional Scottish breakfast. The bar is open from 9am until 1am, but later during the Edinburgh Festival and key event dates. Built in 1621 for the Guild of Taylors, the building was completely renovated and transformed into a hotel in 1998. It is a stunning traditional property. The hotel entrance is through the cobbled courtyard, which in summer months is an outdoor bar area. The hotel is part of a complex featuring the Three Sisters Pub. The pub is very popular and is open until 1am every night of the week. On weekends the hotel is very often used by stag and hen parties. It is not recommended for those looking for a quiet and peaceful stay, but it is ideal for those looking for a lively and vibrant venue.
