The 18-story Kitano New York Hotel offers 149 guestrooms. Each room is custom-designed with warm mahogany and cherry furnishings and decorated with wood and light colors. Marble bathrooms, some with sunken Japanese bathtubs, are elegant and spacious. Bedding includes down comforters and pillows. Bathrobes and slippers are provided. Desks come with task lights and multi-line telephones. (Telephones are at bedside, also.) Wireless Internet access is available for a surcharge. The brightly lit Garden Cafe, is located in a historic townhouse, adjoining the Kitano, and is accessible through the lobby or its own separate entrance. It offers American cuisine with an international flair, along with several Japanese home-style specialties. The Japanese restaurant serves a distinctive Kaiseki cuisine that is served on elegant Japanese porcelain, pottery and lacquer ware. The restaurant offers three tatami rooms for private dining. An elegant piano bar lounge is also in the hotel. Original brownstone mansion built in 1870 with a restored traditional facade. Currently a white and red brick building with a classical appearance. Contemporary two-story lobby designed in warm mahogany and marble with fine Japanese details. Both tea room and a lobby shop are just off of the lobby area. Sculptures and paintings by renowned artists are prominently displayed. Beautiful and detail-oriented hotel that is centrally located and ideal for guests who look for comfort and impeccable service.
